The Government of Romania extends the validity of the Romanian
European passports to 10 years
On February 22, 2018, the Romanian Government approved a project that
foresees the extension of the validity of the Romanian European passport to
10 years.
Therefore, the validity of simple electronic passports will be extended to 10
years, compared to five in the present, for those who have reached the age of
25.
For people between the ages of 12 and 25, the electronic simple passport will
be valid for five years, and for those under the age of 12 – the electronic
passport will be valid for three years.
In this way, the Romanian passport becomes one of the most important
European passports, with a very long validity period.
